Winning start to Bundesliga Home Challenge!

Hertha BSC full-back Maximilian Mittelstädt and eSports athlete Elias Nerlich secured a 6-3 aggregate victory over SC Paderborn on the opening matchday of the Bundesliga Home Challenge. Nerlich made the perfect start for the Blue-Whites, beating his fellow eSports athlete Lukas Fiedler from Paderborn 4-1. After going behind early on, goals from Matheus, Cunha and Muhammed Kiprit turned the game on its head, before Vedad Ibisevic and again Kiprit scored after the break to wrap up the win.
Mittelstädt was up against fellow professional player Rifet Kapic and started well thanks to a goal from Krzysztof Piątek. This time it was Paderborn who turned the tie around, but Maxi levelled the scores with another goal from the Poland international to secure a 2-2 draw. “It was a lot of fun. It would have been nice to win, but I think a 2-2 draw was fair. It’s good that Elias has already got a big win. He did so well that there wasn’t that much pressure on me,” said Mittelstädt. The next matchday will take place next weekend (04-05/04/20), although the pairings and schedule are yet to be confirmed.
