Bundesliga remains suspended

Following a general meeting between its members on Tuesday (31.03.20), the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) has extended the postponement of the Bundesliga untll April 30th. Tickets that have been purchased for upcoming Hertha matches will remain valid.

Berlin/Frankfurt – The Bundesliga season will remain suspended until at least 30th April, in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Various team training sessions will also be put on hold until 5th April. The DFL announced its unanimous decision following a meeting between all 36 clubs from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 on Tuesday (31.03.20). As a result, matchdays 28 to 32 will not take place in April as previously planned. Restrictions prohibiting mass gatherings, as well as the preventative measures being taken to prevent the virus from spreading further have been given priority.
"The league has never before been more united than at this present moment," said DFL CEO Christian Seifert. "The clubs know the place they occupy within the community and are well aware of their responsbilities." At the same time, Seifert underlined that the intention remains to finish the current season by 30th June. "In the longterm, professional football only works if it is actually being played. At the same time, protecting those at risk and controlling the spread of the virus remains the priority." A detailled plan on how exactly the remainder of the season will be played out has yet to be made. Tickets that have been purchased for upcoming Hertha matches will remain valid at this time.
