Thanks to partial salary cuts and short working hours, redundancy will not become a reality for anyone at the club.

Two weeks after management confirmed various changes to the running of the club due to the corona crisis, such as travel and contact restrictions and even some investment and spending freezes, the employees of Hertha BSC were informed on Wednesday (1st April 2020) in a ‘virtual’ employee meeting about further concrete measures. The managing directors informed all employees, via a video conference, of discussions that took place during the first DFL general meeting the day before. It has now been confirmed that no Bundesliga football will be played during the month of April either.

Michael Preetz, Managing Director of Sport and Communication: "After the quarantine ended last Monday, the team were given individual training plans which included plenty of running sessions, since there will definitely be no team training this week either. The next DFL meeting will be on 17th April. Until then, both the DFL will remain in close coordination with politics as well as with the health authorities and will follow the course of the pandemic. I’m sure by then we will have new insights and whilst it will always be a democracy, I'm somewhat confident that we'll be able to finish the season by June 30th, and if it takes longer, we'll find other solutions."

Ingo Schiller, Chief Financial Officer: "We have to choose between two scenarios. Can we at least end the season with games without spectators, which is clearly our common goal in the league, or must the season ultimately be cancelled. This is a massive difference between the two, but no matter what we will not have to make anyone redundant because of this crisis. Different measures will help: Firstly, all our players, the coaching staff, the management and senior staff will waive part of their salary for three months which will generate a seven-digit sum. Many thanks to all of them. On the other hand, we will be asking all employees outside fo this group to work part-time until the end of May. We have discussed this with all of our employees."
