Hertha started the week with a double session on Monday (20/04/20), marking a week since Bruno Labbadia joined the club. Sessions remain split into small groups and follow strict medical procedure.

The coronavirus pandemic is still on ongoing, and uncertainty around the entire situation remains rife. Some shops began to reopen in Germany on Monday, but a return to total normality remains some way off. The same goes for football. It is still unknown when the Bundesliga may return to playing matches. On Thursday (23/04/20), representatives of all 36 clubs in Germany’s top two tiers will convene at the DFL’s next general meeting to discuss a possible course of action. Hertha remain committed to an ideal scenario of completing the remainder of the 2019/20 season.
After the first few days working under Bruno Labbadia’s new coaching staff, a second week of training began. “It’s been a good and intense start with the boys. This week will be similar,” the 54-year-old said. Labbadia and his assistants are following a well laid-out plan of training content. “We will continue to work on group tactics, with and without the ball. We’ll also work hard to ensure we’re fit for the return of the Bundesliga.”
Sessions are taking place twice per day, and the players are being split into three groups of eight – with a fourth group comprised solely of goalkeepers. Measure are in place to ensure that training is conducted following strict health and safety guidelines, in order to prevent the spread of the virus. For this reason, sessions are closed to the public.
