Platte back in team training

Marvin Plattenhardt trained with his teammates on Tuesday (09.06.20) on Schenckendorffplatz. Matheus Cunha was in individual training.

In 18 days, probably the most memorable Bundesliga season ever will end – not on May 16th as originally planned, but on June 27th due to the coronavirus pandemic. By that time Hertha will have played four more matches. Four matches that will prove decisive in crowning the league winners, which sides will qualify for Europe, and which sides will be relegated. Four games that Bruno Labbadia’s side will hope to do well in, to continue the side’s good form since the restart. “We have only been working together for a few weeks, so the development is definitely notable. We’re currently working on building the foundations, so we’re lucky that it’s worked out so quickly. But of course more time is needed. Especially at this time of the season and with the games we’ve got coming up, we can build up ahead of next season and learn more,” explains the coach, who asked his team to train for the first time this week on Tuesday (09.06.20). There was no noticeable drop in their energy levels regardless.
Training on 09.06.20
Labbadia has his eyes fixed on the final few games. The first of the four remaining games is against Eintracht Frankfurt, who will visit the Olympiastadion on Saturday (13.06.20, 15:30 CEST). In the current league table, the Eagles are in eleventh place, two places and three points behind Hertha – and they should stay that way. “We are now at the end of a turbulent season. If we can finish in the top ten after 34 matchdays, we can be pleased with ourselves. Getting three points against Frankfurt would help us a lot,“ stressed Vladimir Darida, who set a new Bundesliga record on Saturday in Dortmund, covering 14.65 kilometres in one game.
The Squad Situation
Marvin Plattenhardt should be able to do his bit to achieve the club’s goals from Matchday 31 onwards. The left-back completed his extra training after his concussion against Leipzig on Sunday, and returned to team training at the start of the week. However, the personnel situation isn’t perfect, although Karim Rekik and Niklas Stark did progress into their second full week of training without any problems. Javairo Dilrosun, who was ruled out for the season with a thigh injury, joins other long-term absentees Thomas Kraft (back) and Marius Wolf (ankle).
Mathew Leckie, who was unavailable to play against Dortmund due to muscular problems, cannot train either. “Now the consequences of the long break are beginning to show. You can see it in other clubs too. We always check which players we have available,” said Labbadia, speaking about the current situation. There’s still a question mark about Matheus Cunha, who is working on individual training following his concussion. “We will keep him progressing,” said Labbadia. In spite of the news about Cunha’s return, the manager’s spirit has not diminished, as after his side lost against BVB, he stated, “I want to win every game!” He and his side have four games left to do exactly that.
