The right back will join Hertha from FC Groningen, signing a long-term contract with the Old Lady.
Berlin - One day after Alexander Schwolow’s arrival, Hertha BSC are pleased to announce their next summer signing ahead of the 2020/21 season. Deyovaisio Zeefuik has moved to the German capital from FC Groningen and signed a long-term contract with Hertha. "Deyovaisio is a passionate professional, who has received outstanding coaching in Amsterdam. He has proven himself both for his club and the Netherlands youth teams. We are happy that he’s decided to take the next step in his career with us," said Michael Preetz. "Hertha BSC demonstrated a clear plan in my talks with the club and showed a lot of interest. This club’s ambition corresponds to my own, so I’m very happy to be coming to Berlin," said Zeefuik.
The Amsterdam-born player came through the world-renowned Ajax youth system before making his first team debut aged 19 in the Eredivisie in April 2017, where his coach was current Leverkusen head coach Peter Bosz. In the following months, Zeefuik gained valuable experience in the first team and made his UEFA Europa League debut. In January 2018, he moved to FC Groningen on loan, where the right-footer was immediately a regular starter; FC Groningen subsequently signed the 1.77m tall player on a permanent deal at the end of his loan spell. The defender, strong in the tackle, soon became a cornerstone of the Groningen defence. After passing through the Dutch national side’s youth ranks, he was also selected for the U21s, for whom he’s appeared six times.
