“Testing myself on a new level!“
“Testing myself on a new level!“

New arrival Alexander Schwolow made his first appearance in front of the media today in Berlin. During the press conference, ‘Schwolli’ outlined his hopes and aspirations for his time in the capital.

The summer break means a long interruption to the normal Bundesliga schedule and the preparations for the new season. A break from competitive football is especially welcome for the footballers after an intense season that was prolonged by over a month due to the pandemic. However, not all of the players have been able to make the most of the off season. This particularly applies to Alexander Schwolow who, as of Tuesday, has officially made the switch to Hertha from Sport-Club Freiburg. “We’ve been in regular contact over the last two weeks. Everything has gone really quickly!” says the 28-year-old of his experience over the past few days.
“Everything is bigger here”
However because of the tight schedule, there are still some parts of the transfer that have yet to be taken care of. When asked about whether he had managed to find an apartment, Schwolow smiled and revealed that everything had gone so quickly that he had not had a chance to do so yet. Despite not having found a permanent place to live, Berlin has made a good impression on the 1.90m shot-stopper. “At Hertha BSC, everything is that little bit bigger and in terms of professionalism, it is absolutely top class. Everyone at the club is completely focused on doing everything they can to ensure that we players can concentrate purely on our performance on the pitch," said the Wiesbaden-born player, clearly impressed by the conditions here in the capital.
These perfect conditions should ultimately lead to the goalkeeper reaching his highest potential and helping the Old Lady to success on the pitch. “I’m a competitive footballer so obviously I’ll give it everything I’ve got. It was time for the next step and I wanted push myself outside my comfort zone after my time in Freiburg,” Schwolow explains about his transfer to Hertha. “I want to test myself at a new level!” Schwolow said about his motivation. The off season has been a time for rest and recovery for the keeper, though the past two weeks have proven to be anything but.
