Season opener in Bremen, before Frankfurt visit Berlin

Season opener in Bremen, before Frankfurt visit Berlin

Hertha BSC will open the 2020/21 season against Werder Bremen. The first visitors to the Olympiastadion will be Eintracht Frankfurt, before the capital city club travels to Munich.
At noon on Friday (07.08.20), the German Football League (DFL) released the fixture list for the 58th Bundesliga season, giving Hertha an interesting first few games. Bruno Labbadia’s team will visit Werder Bremen on matchday one. The first home game comes a week later against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Berlin club’s schedule continues with a trip to Bayern Munich on matchday three, before newly promoted VfB Stuttgart visit the Olympiastadion. The demanding early schedule is rounded out by games away to Leipzig and at home to Wolfsburg on matchdays five and six respectively. Exact kick-off times for the matches will be decided and announced by the DFL at a later date. “We have to face every opponent eventually, but it is obviously interesting to see how the fixtures fall. Before the league gets underway we also have a cup match against Braunschweig, which will be a difficult task for us. We will give everything to be well prepared going into the matches,” said coach Labbadia.
The new season of top-flight German football should have been ready to begin on August 21st 2020, but the Coronavirus pandemic caused unavoidable changes to the calendar. This season, the winter break will be cut short. After the Old Lady face SC Freiburg on matchday 13 (18th-21st December 2020), there will be a slight break in the calendar, lasting only until the first weekend of January. The first match of 2020 will be a showdown in the capital between Hertha and Schalke 04. Another five matches will follow before the end of the month, with Hertha travelling to Bielefeld and Köln before wrapping up the Hinrunde at home to Hoffenheim. A home fixture against Bremen, followed by a trip to Frankfurt, will round out the January schedule.
Derbies in December and April
Hertha fans can look forward to derby matches against 1. FC Union in December (4th-7th December at the Olympiastadion) and April (3rd -5th). The season will come to a close on matchday 34 (22.05.21) with an away game against Hoffenheim.
At the start of September, the club’s international players will leave to represent their countries for the first time this season. The next international break is scheduled for the second weekend of October, before the final international fixtures of 2020 take place in mid-November. The next break in the domestic calendar will not be until the end of March 2021.
Info: Information regarding tickets for upcoming matches will be announced as soon as possible. Please understand that we are currently unable to make a definitive statement regarding tickets.
