Darida comes out on top against Hertha teammates

Berlin – The Hertha players who were called up for international duty have completed the first part of the international break. Seven of the Old Lady’s players have represented their country in the last few days.
In Bratislava on Friday night (4/9/20), it wasn’t just Slovakia and Czech Republic facing off, but three Hertha players too. The hosts, with Ondrej Duda and Peter Pekarík, lost 3-1 against the visitors, with Vladimír Darida. Darida played the full match and provided the assist for the last goal of the evening in the 86th minute, whereas Duda had to be replaced after 17 minutes due to an injury. Pekarík played the entire match. Krzysztof Piątek started in Poland’s match in the Netherlands, where his side narrowly lost 1-0, and was substituted in the 63rd minute. Rune Jarstein was between the sticks for the entirety of Norway’s match against Austria, but he was powerless to stop the Austrians coming away 2-1 winners. Hertha’s players will be back in action on Monday (7/9/20) for the second matchday of the UEFA Nations League.
Captain Maier leads his side to victory – Dutch trio in action on Monday
Arne Maier was in action on Thursday in the U21 European Championship qualifiers, leading Stefan Kuntz’s Germany side as captain to a comfortable 4-1 win over Moldova. The midfielder played the full 90 minutes. That victory takes Germany U21s to the top of Group 9, and on Tuesday (8/9/20, 16:00 CEST) they face a top-of-the-table clash in Belgium. The ‘Jong Oranje’ – with Hertha trio Deyovaisio Zeefuik, Javairo Dilrosun and Daishwan Redan – welcome Norway to the Netherlands on the same evening. Home-grown player Márton Dárdai played 45 minutes for Germany U19s in a friendly in Poland and will be looking for another opportunity to represent his country in Belgium on Tuesday (8/9/20, 11:00 CEST).
