Vladimir Darida extended his contract with Hertha BSC on Tuesday (29/09/20). The Czech Republic international has been with the club since 2015.

Berlin’s hardest worker will wear white and blue for the foreseeable future. Vladimir Darida extended his contract with Hertha BSC on Tuesday (29/09/20). "Vladi has been an important part of the team for years now, so we are happy to continue our work together. He will continue to have an impact on the team with both his technical ability and his immense will to win,” said Michael Preetz. The 30-year-old is also looking forward to his continued relationship with the club: “I’m entering my sixth season with Hertha and I feel completely at home at the club and in the city. I’m happy to remain a part of the Hertha family and I will do everything I can to help us achieve our goals,” said our number six.

Darida, who has represented the Czech Republic on 62 occasions, joined Hertha from SC Freiburg in 2015. In Berlin, the tireless midfielder has become a regular starter and a constant presence in the centre of the pitch. Last season, he broke his own record for the most distance covered in one Bundesliga match. With the exception of a difficult 2018/19 season, in which Darida suffered several injury setbacks, his importance to the team has increased year by year. In total, he has played 133 competitive matches for the club across the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Europa League, scoring 13 times for the Old Lady and contributing another 19 assists. At international level, he has played at the European Championship in 2012 and 2016 and was named Czech Football of the Year in 2017. During his time with Viktoria Plzen in his home country, he was twice crowned as a league champion and also appeared in the UEFA Champions League. This is Darida’s second contract extension with the club, and the first since 2017.
