Karim Rekik leaves Hertha BSC

The Dutch defender leaves Hertha with immediate effect. After three years in Berlin, the 25-year-old will now ply his trade for FC Sevilla in Spain.
Berlin – After 75 competitive appearance, Hertha BSC and Karim Rekik are parting company. The defender has left the club to join FC Sevilla in Spain. "Karim has always shown himself to be a reliable team player who always gave everything for the team. Recently he wasn’t getting much game time. Given that his contract was due to run out, this was the last chance to receive a transfer fee for him. We wish Karim all the best for the future, both on and off the pitch," commented Michael Preetz. “I had three great years at Hertha BSC and developed as both a player and man. I will always have fond memories of the club and city," the defender reflected.
The four-time Netherlands international joined the Berliners in 2017 from Olympique Marseille. Before joining the French side, the 2011 U17 European Champion also played for PSV Eindhoven, though his parent club at that point was Manchester City. Rekik joined the 'Citizens' as an academy prospect from Feyenoord. The Dutchman will now test himself in La Liga and the Champions Liga with Sevilla.
