"The points will come!"

"The points will come!"

Dedryck Boyata, Vladimír Darida and Alexander Schwolow discussed a hard-fought 90 minutes after defeat in Leipzig.

Hertha got ahead early on and gave everything for 90 minutes. In the end, it wasn’t enough against a table-topping RasenBallsport Leipzig side who also played the second half with a numerical advantage. The players were obviously disappointed after putting so much into the game. “We made it hard for Leipzig, so we can’t be too negative,” says Vladimír Darida. The Czech highlighted the positives in the game, adding that Hertha can take heart from a courageous performance at the home of the Champions League semi-finalists: “We had some good attacks, we concentrated well at the back and stayed compact in defence. If we keep that up, then the points will come!” herthabsc.de collects the match reaction here.

Alexander Schwolow: We put up a great fight. We worked hard in the first half, we were brave and we also caused them some problems going forward. Obviously we are to blame for losing the match, but I have to say that the referee’s decision to show the red card really stings. It completely changed the game. We have been good in all of our away Bundesliga matches so far this season – now we have to perform to those standards at home. We need complete conviction going into our next match.

Dedryck BoyataUnfortunately we are going home empty-handed. We started the game well and we worked really hard with the hope of getting at least a point. We threw the game away, sadly. That has already happened too often this season. It’s really frustrating, because we have the quality and strength to get better results, like we did at the end of last season. It doesn’t help to get ourselves down, though – we have to keep working and staying optimistic. The points will follow.

Vladimír Darida: It’s obviously tough right now, because the team worked really hard. We have to stay positive. We had some good attacks and our build-up play was especially good. Our first goal was class from us. The red card played a huge part today, but I will have to watch it back at home before I can judge it. It's hard to say anything right now. We were compact at the back, the defence stood firm together and we defended really well. We made it hard for Leipzig and we have to build on this performance. Obviously we’d rather be higher up in the league table, but there are still a lot of matches left to play so we can’t be too negative. We are performing really well in training. If we keep that up, then the points will come!
