Cases are rising at a high rate and the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact public life. The rapid increase in the last few days and weeks forced the federal government to introduce new measures on Wednesday (28/10/20). That includes a ban on fans attending professional sports events in November, including the Bundesliga and Hertha BSC’s home games. “It’s a shame and regrettable that we’ll have to play the next few games without fans again, despite the well-functioning hygiene protocols we’ve implemented. But we accept the decision and we’d like to once again stress that the health of the public has always been, and remains, the priority for us,” said Michael Preetz, managing director for sport, on Thursday (29/10/20).
That means that the ‘Old Lady’ will play in an empty Olympiastadion against VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday (01/11/20, 18:00 CET) as well as against Borussia Dortmund (21/11/20, 20:30 CET). It is not yet known whether fans will be able to return for December’s home games against 1. FC Union (04/12/20, 20:30 CET) and FSV Mainz 05 (15/12/20, 20:30 CET). Information regarding these fixtures will be conveyed in due course.
