"We need to learn and be more clinical!"

Niklas Stark and Vladimir Darida analyse the 1-1 draw between Hertha BSC and VfL Wolfsburg. Both Hertha players thought the performance was good and were left to rue missed chances.

After 93 intense, hard-fought minutes of football, there were mixed feelings for the men in blue and white. On the one hand, they could be happy with a good performance, but there is also disappointment that such a brave display didn’t bring greater reward. “Unfortunately we couldn’t score the goals to get the three points that we would have deserved,” said Niklas Stark after the 1-1 draw on Sunday evening (01/11/20). herthabsc.de summarises the match reaction.

Niklas Stark: Unfortunately we couldn’t score the goals to get the three points that we would have deserved. It’s a shame, but we have to learn from it and be more clinical. The last two matches have shown that when we are on our game we can play good football and beat any team. Now we have to stick at it and keep learning and learning so that we can keep improving. We are a new team so we have to find our way – that’s not going to happen on its own.

Vladimir Darida: It’s a shame that we weren’t able to score the goal in the second half. We needed to be a little calmer in the opposition box, and so we ended up with a point. We have to stay positive – if we keep working hard, things will improve. Obviously not everything goes so smoothly when you have so many new players coming in, but I think that things will get better and that the rhythm will come. Three points next weekend, ahead of the international break, would obviously be nice.
