"Deciding the match in our favour!"

Bruno Labbadia and Michael Preetz spoke about upcoming opponents Mainz, as well as their aims for the end of the year, ahead of the final home match of 2020.
The end of the year is not the be all and end all when considering the year as a whole, but it definitely has an effect. That’s especially true considering the extraordinary times that we are currently living through, as Hertha will contest Bundesliga points twice more before a short break for Christmas. After a well-deserved point in Mönchengladbach, Labbadia says that his men want to “take maximum points” from 2020’s remaining fixtures. The head coach was speaking at his press conference ahead of the home match against FSV Mainz 05 on Tuesday evening (15/12/20, 20:30 CET). “They have only won one game, but looking at their team they have plenty of quality. We have to play our game and push to the limit. We want to continue the positive growth from the last few games, using the momentum to help us. We want to decide this match in our favour,” said Labbadia.
The calendar may be packed with fixtures, but Michael Preetz knows what is required in the last two matches of the year: “In the current situation you have to focus on the next match even more than you otherwise would,” said the sporting director, who seconded his head coach's opinion on Hertha’s aims for the two matches. “After the derby win and the point in Mönchengladbach, we really want to secure our second home victory against a tricky opponent!”
