Hertha's winter break plans

A few days off and limited time to prepare for the new year: an overview of how the Herthaner will be spending the winter break.

Berlin - After the final game of the year against SC Freiburg on Sunday (20/12/20, 15:30 CET), the Herthaner will be able to enjoy a few days off over Christmas. They will take be given individual training plans to follow over the break, as training sessions and meetings will not take place at the Olympiastadion in this time. "Of course we're used to having a bit of a longer winter break. But, the situation is what it is. We will try to make the best of it, like we have been doing all year," said Bruno Labbadia. The head coach and his team will begin preparations for the new year on 28th December. First up for the Blue-Whites is a home game against Schalke 04 on 2nd January (18:30 CET).

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the team will not be able to take part in a winter training camp like they have in previous years. The decision to have a shortened winter break had been confirmed by Christian Seifert, CEO of the DFL, in the summer already. "Exceptional times call for exceptional measures," was what he said at the time. "This is a very difficult situation for us. It means a shortened break for us, but I will enjoy the time off in Berlin with my wife and my son before we have to get back to work," said Hertha captain Dedryck Boyata.

After the game against Schalke, the "Old Lady' will face Arminia Bielefeld the following weekend (10/01/21, 15:30 CET).
