A symbolic award doesn't go to a player or coach this year. In 2020, it goes to you: our fans!

In previous years, fans of the ‘Old Lady’ have always cast their votes for the most outstanding player of the calendar year. Though many of Hertha’s players are certainly deserving of such an accolade at the end of this year, it will not be awarded to a player this time round. As we reach the end of 2020, the capital city club’s badge of honour goes to all fans of Hertha BSC!

Though many of Hertha’s players are certainly deserving of such an accolade at the end of this year, it will not be awarded to a player this time round. As we reach the end of 2020, the capital city club’s badge of honour goes to all fans of Hertha BSC! Each and every one of you is our “Herthaner of the Year”!

The coronavirus pandemic has been radically changing and disrupting people’s everyday lives for almost ten months now. These effects and the restrictions to normal activities have been felt by people in all walks of life, and football is no exception to this. After the interruption to the 2019/20 season in mid-March, football got underway again around two months later. However, one big thing was missing - the thing that makes the game so unique and so special: you, the fans. There cannot be any talk of returning to normality this season either as fans are still missing from every game, every goal, and every final whistle. Although you can’t be with us in the Olympiastadion, we can still feel your support coming from home in every game. Although football has resumed, it’s a kind of football that the current circumstances demands and not football that we have any wish to get used to. The beautiful game without the emotion and atmosphere brought by the fans is not the football that we have all learned to love.

It makes us look forward to the day all the more when we can be together in the Olympiastadion again, to cheer and celebrate the highs, but also to moan and get through the lows, all together as Hertha BSC.
