"Only training well is not enough"

"Only training well is not enough"

Pál Dárdai and Arne Friedrich discussed the match in Frankfurt at Thursday’s press conference (28/01/21). Also on the agenda were early impressions and the players’ body language.
Training sessions and analysis, discussions and more discussions – Pál Dárdai’s first few days in office could hardly have been busier. The 44-year-old has been back in his old role as first-team head coach since Monday. Since then, the boss and his coaching staff have been right at the heart of the action. The Hungarian summed up his first impressions at his press conference on Thursday (28/01/21), the second time has faced the media in a  matter of days. “I am really pleased. On day one it was about relieving the stress and the inhibition. On Wednesday we trained hard, working on sprints and duels. Then we moved onto our transition play and playing with just one or two touches. ‘I’m feeling good because the team has huge potential. The body language is good,” said Dárdai, who knows that Saturday’s match against Frankfurt (30/01/21, 15:30 CET) will be quite different from the action in training. “Just training well is not enough. It’s about mentality too.” That mentality is even more important owing to the good run of form that Eintracht find themselves on. “We know how Frankfurt play. If you give them space then they are hard to stop. We will show them plenty of respect, but we have our own strengths as well. We have to score one more goal than our opponents, that is the motto that we’re using,” added Dárdai with a grin.
"We have faith in our squad"
Sporting director Arne Friedrich spoke about his close bond with the squad, as well as discussing any potential transfer activity with four days to go in the window. “There will be plenty of rumours and speculation. If somebody can help us then we will be active in the market, but we have faith in our squad and will stick by them. There’s no panic.”
