Ahead of Friday’s home game against FC Bayern, head coach Pál Dárdai and Arne Friedrich spoke about confidence, a potential surprise and the talent of the record champions.

Berlin - It was press conference time once again at Hertha BSC on Wednesday afternoon, as head coach Pál Dárdai and sporting director Arne Friedrich spoke to the media about the upcoming home game against FC Bayern Munchen. “I’ve faced Bayern on several occasions, both as a player and as a coach. But, what matters most in football is the next pass, and the next game. I don’t really care about what happened in the past - all that matters is what happens Friday evening,” said Dárdai. The Hungarian is now preparing to take charge of his first home game for Hertha in nearly 627 days. Whether or not new signings Sami Khedira and Nemanja Radonjic will feature on Friday evening (20:30 CET) remains to be seen. “Their first impressions have been positive. Sami’s personality will be good for our dressing room. Nemanja’s speed was also impressive to see. Both have worked well already. But, we need to see when we will give them their first runouts,” said Dárdai.

“Why shouldn’t we serve for surprise?”

Friedrich, who also faced Bayern 17 times during his playing career, spoke about the individual talent within the Bayern squad. “As a player, the highlight was getting to face off against the best players, like Robert Lewandowski. I loved games like that and I hope that our guys will take the same level of excitement into the game on Friday,” said Friedrich, who spoke about what he hopes to see from his side. “Pál and I spoke about surprises a few days ago. Why shouldn’t we be able to serve for surprise? We’ve worked very hard. I hope that we play with confidence and that we have a desire to win, instead of being afraid to lose,” said Friedrich.
