International break before Easter

As March comes to an end, our national players head off to represent their countries for the fourth time this season. Thereby, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, caution and communication between federations and clubs is very important. "We won't allow our national players to travel to any international games taking place in areas where a variant of the virus exists, as this would subject them to a 14-day quarantine," explained sporting director Arne Friedrich. A total of ten current Hertha players have been called up, as well as Arne Maier, who is on loan at Arminia Bielefeld. Like Deyovaisio Zeefuik, Javairô Dilrosun and Mattéo Guendouzi, the midfielder will take part in the European Under 21 Championship in Slovenia and Hungary. Our two Dutchmen will measure take on Romania (24/03/21, 21:00 CET), Germany (27/03/21, 21:00 CET) and Hungary (30/03/21, 18:00 CET) in the group stage. Guendouzi and the 'Équipe Tricolore' will face Denmark (25/03/21, 21:00), Russia (28/03/21, 21:00) and Iceland (31/03/21, 18:00) in their group.

Trio of games for three players

Hertha will also be represented in the World Cup qualifiers, where important points are at stake from the offset. Vladimír Darida and the Czech Republic take on Estonia (24/03/21, 20:45 CET). At the same time, Peter Pekarík and Slovakia will face Cyprus. Krzysztof Piątek, Nemanja Radonjić and Rune Jarstein all have three games on their schedules. Piątek and Poland face Hungary (25/03/21, 20:45 CET), Andorra (28/03/21, 20:45) and the take on the 'Three Lions' in England (31/03/21, 20:45 CET). Radonjić's Serbia will face Ireland (24/03/21, 20:45 CET), European champions Portugal (27.03.21, 20:45 CET) and Azerbaijan (30/03/21, 18:00 CET). Keeper Jarstein and Norway have matches against Gibraltar (24/03/21, 20:45 CET), Turkey (27/03/21, 18:00 CET) and Montenegro (30/03/21, 20:45 CET). Captain Dedryck Boyata was also called up by the Belgian national team and would be in line to face Wales (24/03/21, 20:45 CET) and Belarus (30/03/21, 20:45 CET) with the 'Red Devils' - but due to his recent injury, the number 20 is expected to stay in Berlin. "We are in contact with the Belgian federation and have told them that we do not want to release Dedryck as he has not yet taken part in any team training," said Friedrich. Vladimír Darida and Czech Republic face Wales in Cardiff on Tuesday evening (30/03/21, 20:45 CET) in Cardiff in their second World Cup qualifier. Santiago Ascacíbar and the Argentina U23 have two games in store against the same opposition. On 26th and 29th March, the 'Albiceleste' will face Japan U24 in a pair of friendlies.
