“I can feel a good spirit now more than ever!”

Dear Herthaner, there are six games remaining in the 2020/21 Bundesliga season – six games in which we will give everything for the blue and white shirt to ensure our survival in the Bundesliga. Six games that we will take on together, the team on the pitch and all of you by our side from home. Even though the coronavirus outbreak and quarantine are bad news, we will overcome this challenge. “The events of the last two days could have been overwhelming but I want to say first of all that we are taking the situation as it comes,” said CEO Carsten Schmidt at a virtual press conference on Friday. Instead of complaining, our full efforts will be focused on trying to use the time in quarantine as best we can. “Those infected are coping well with the circumstances. That’s the priority. After the health of those at the club, the second most important thing is what steps we take next. We have taken provisions; the players have received bikes, treadmills and training plans. I have full faith in the team behind the team. We are fully motivated and I feel a good spirit now more than ever!”

"We will give it everything and come even closer together!”

Arne Friedrich made no secret of the fact that this is uncharted territory for everyone involved. “They will be six challenging games. It’s an extreme situation that we haven’t been through before. We will take the challenge on and stay in close contact with our players,” said the sporting director, who also thanked all of the club’s fans. “I can only say thank you for all of the positive responses we’ve received across all platforms. We will give it everything to be successful in our final games and to stay in the league. That’s our goal! It will be a challenge, but that’s what makes you grow as a team – we will get even closer together!”
