Dodi Lukébakio joins Wolfsburg on loan

Dodi Lukébakio leaves Hertha BSC on loan with immediate effect and will spend the 2021/22 season at VfL Wolfsburg. The two clubs came to an agreement on Monday. “The option for this transfer came about at short notice and makes sense for both sides. We wish Dodi all the best for his future on and off the pitch,” said sporting director Fredi Bobic.

Lukébakio, who joined the club from Watford in August 2019 and quickly became a first team regular. In his debut season, the forward made 30 league appearances from a possible 34, before making 29 in the following Bundesliga season. Lukébakio has been ever-present in the current campaign, playing in all three league games. In 67 games in all competitions for Hertha, the 23-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided 13 assists. Through his club appearances, Lukébakio earned himself a call up for the Belgium national team, making his debut in November 2020.
