"We can’t allow that to happen again"

Before they could apologise to and thank the fans who travelled with them, Niklas Stark and co. had to find the words to describe the 5-0 defeat to Bayern and put them to the TV cameras. “In the first few minutes we had a couple of opportunities, but once Bayern took the lead they took more and more control. After that we weren’t able to find anything. We can’t allow that to happen again,” our vice-captain visibly disappointed following the result in Bavaria. herthabsc.com have all the reactions from the game here.

Javairô Dilrosun: Every game against Bayern is hard. We started the week with the belief that we could win the game, but when you meet Bayern on a good day, you have no chance. The first ten minutes were good, but after that nothing much else went our way. We didn’t keep ourselves compact and we didn’t communicate well on the field. We completely lost focus – I don’t know what happened. We have to change that immediately. We need to remember that we have to be focused and ready for the entire 90 minutes, to stop our opponents and do our thing. Now, we’ve got nothing out of a game once again. After the international break, we need to go into the game against Bochum and get something out of it – it’s going to be an important game.

Niklas Stark: In the first few minutes we had a couple of opportunities, but once Bayern took the lead they took more and more control. After that we weren’t able to find anything. We can’t allow that to happen again. When you lose 5-0 you need to own up to it and accept it. We need to use the international break to find the solutions so that we can go to our next games against Bochum and Fürth and get some points.

Sporting director Arne Friedrich: It’s very difficult to lose 5-0. It’s also very difficult to find the answers and solutions directly after the game. We need to ask ourselves what we’re doing wrong. You can’t beat about the bush – it’s been an absolutely awful start for us. Now we’re going to go into the international break together, and we’ll see what happens until Tuesday in the transfer market.
