Derry Scherhant signs first professional contract

24 goal involvements in his first year as a senior player in the Regionalliga Nordost, and now the next chapter: U23 attacker Derry Scherhant has signed his first professional contract with Hertha BSC, penning a deal until 2025. “Derry proved his already-impressive quality up front last season. He’s developed brilliantly, and now is the time for him to take the next step,” said sporting director Fredi Bobic. The young striker himself is also delighted to have signed a new deal: “I’m incredibly thankful and proud to have signed my first professional contract with Hertha BSC. Now, I’m looking forward to finding my feet step by step with the Bundesliga team, and I’m excited for the new season,” said the 19-year-old, who will join the start of pre-season preparations with Sandro Schwarz’s first team when they get underway on Monday (20/06).

16 goals, 8 assists for Hertha U23s

Berlin-born Scherhant has spent his formative years so far at several clubs in the capital. He started his career at Viktoria Berlin, before moving on to Berliner SC with a stop at Tennis Borussia in between. His most recent move, to Hertha’s youth academy, came in October 2020, where he spent half a season with the U19 squad before progressing to the U23s in the summer of 2021. In 34 Regionalliga games under Ante Čović, he found the net 16 times and set up a further 8 goals. We hope that scoring streak will continue for many years to come as a Blue-White!
