Berlin Derby on Saturday, two floodlit games

It was announced in June that the new Bundesliga season would start with a bang. On Friday, the German Football League (DFL) confirmed the dates for the opening seven matchdays, including the season opener against 1. FC Union. The Berlin Derby will take place on matchday 1 on Saturday (06/08/22). Kick-off in Köpenick will be at 15:30 CEST. “Of course, the game away to Union will be a challenge for us, but it's fantastic to start the season with a derby,” said head coach Sandro Schwarz on his anticipation ahead of the game.

Friday in Mönchengladbach

Speaking of anticipation, Hertha fans will have their eyes on the first home game of the season. That comes on matchday 2 when the 'Old Lady' welcome UEFA Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt and new signing Mario Götze to the Olympiastadion. That game will also take place on Saturday (13/08/22) at 15:30 CEST. A few days later, the club will leave Berlin for the first time in the league season. On Friday 19th August (20:30 CEST), Schwarz's side will visit Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Hosting BVB on 27 August

A week later, Hertha will take on another Borussia. On Saturday (27.08.22), the Blue and Whites will be back at home as BVB visit the capital. Kick-off is at 15:30 CEST. After a challenging August schedule, the team kick off September with a Sunday game away at FC Augsburg (04/09/22, 15:30 CEST). Two more fixtures are in store before the first international break of the season. Bayer 04 Leverkusen will visit the Olympiastadion on Saturday 10th September (15:30 CEST), before head coach Sandro Schwarz
