The end of the season is nearly here. Pál Dárdai and Benjamin Weber took their seats for the press conference for the last time to discuss the final game of the 2022/23 season. On Saturday (15:30 CEST), the Old Lady will travel to VfL Wolfsburg and would like to leave the Bundesliga with a good performance. “It's not a nice week, you have to be honest, but the guys are focused on getting a good result to end the season. This is our motivation for the week and we won't let up,” said the head coach. Hertha’s sporting director also stressed the ambition for a good finish. “It is matchday 34, the last game of the season. It’s now important to be serious and professional in our approach.” herthabsc.com has all the key statements of Dárdai and Weber on...
…the final game of the season in Lower Saxony:
Dárdai: A test of character? That’s a nice way to put it, but as a footballer you have the character to always want to perform well. It's not a nice week, you have to be honest, but the guys are focused on getting a good result to end the season. This is our motivation for the week and we won't let up.
Weber: It is matchday 34, the last game of the season. It’s now important to be serious and professional in our approach.
…short- and long-term squad planning:
Dárdai: After training today we will know more about the squad situation, but we are well prepared for absences, especially in defence because we have good youth players. I have no doubts about playing Pascal Klemens or Joel da Silva Kiala there, for example. If there is an opportunity, we will use some of our youth players and give them playing time in the Bundesliga. It is also clear that contract situations play no role in the line-up.
Weber: Unfortunately, we were able to prepare for this situation. Not that much has changed now; it has been a challenging situation so far. We’ve been in talks with the players since Sunday and will use the time that we have. We are optimistic that we can manage everything the way we want to do so.
