Marius Gersbeck is home!

Boyhood Hertha fan Marius Gersbeck is back at the club! The goalkeeper has signed from Karlsruher SC and put pen to paper on a deal valid until 2026. The 27-year-old will wear the number 35. “We’re delighted that Marius has decided to tackle the upcoming challenges with us. He’s a Herthaner through and through. He developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the league at Karlsruhe and possesses all the qualities to be an important figure in our team,explained sporting director Benjamin Weber. “Playing for the first team at my hometown club is an incredible feeling. I now want to contribute to a successful team and help out as much as I can,” said the goalkeeper.

100 games for Karlsruhe

The Berlin-born shot stopper joined our academy aged 10 back in 2004. He played for all our youth sides and won the U17 German Championship with in 2012. Gersbeck made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 18 in an unforgettable 2-1 win in Dortmund in December 2013 and subsequently signed his first professional contract the following summer. He spent time on loan at Chemnitzer FC (2016) and VfL Osnabrück (2016 to 2018), playing 79 times in total. The keeper then made the move permanently to Karlsruher SC, appearing exactly 100 times for them in all competitions.
