5-0 win over Fürth!

Pál Dárdai made four changes to the starting XI ahead of matchday 4 in the 2. Bundesliga. Michał Karbowski made his debut in blue and white against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, with centre-back Marc Kempf slotting in alongside him after two games out of the side. Toni Leister – sporting a mask after breaking his nose against HSV – also made his first appearance as captain. Martón Dárdai and Jeremy Dudziak formed the midfield pivot, while Marten Winkler came into the side for his first start since the beginning of the season.

Tabaković makes his own luck

The game got underway after a minute of silence in honour of Lorenz Horr, who passed away last weekend. Hertha started brightly, with chances falling to Reese and Winkler, before Haris Tabaković charged down Fürth goalkeeper Jonas Ubrig’s clearance and the ball ricocheted into the net to make it 1-0 in the 23rd minute. Hertha’s first goal of the season was quickly followed by their second – the ball fell nicely to Winkler in the box, who struck it home to double our advantage just after the half-hour mark. The score would stay at 2-0 going into the break.

Palkó Dárdai curls it past Ubrig.

Ruthless Hertha

20 seconds into the second half, Tabaković’s inch-perfect pass found Palkó, who curled the ball past Ubrig for Hertha’s third goal. A couple of minutes after being introduced, two of Dárdai’s substitutions, Gustav Christensen and Smail Prevljak, combined for the hosts’ fourth goal, with the former teeing up the latter’s well-taken finish in the 66th minute.

The win was all but confirmed as we entered the closing stages of the game, but the boys kept on pushing. They got their reward in the 77th minute, as Tabaković latched onto Prevljak’s perfectly-timed ball and coolly slotted it home for our fifth goal. The score remained that way until the final whistle, as Hertha finally got some points on the board in the league with an impressive, passionate performance.
