eSports at Hertha BSC

Hertha BSC launched the first eSports academy in the Bundesliga in 2018. At several scouting events held in Berlin, Brandenburg, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, more than 2,100 gamers competed for the chance to be trained as esports professionals by the capital club. Then and now, our goal remains the same: to promote club culture in a digital world, make a responsible contribution to youth culture, and provide professional training for talents in this field. Our football academy serves as a model, with the foundation being our holistic three-pillar approach. In addition to game training, the program includes nutritional coaching, mental training, fitness sessions, and instruction in media and social media skills.

Personal development is also a key focus. We’ve created a valuable program that benefits not only the esports players of our capital city club, but the entire community – especially young people and young adults.

The players in our esports division compete in eFootball and the game EA Sports FC. Of course, we aim for successful teams, but we place just as much importance on the individual development of each player. With this philosophy, we want to offer young talents a platform to make the leap into the top leagues.
