Hertha's football stadium
Hertha BSC is considering building its own stadium in the future. A feasibility study has shown that the location directly close-by to the Olympic Stadium is best suited for the construction of a new stadium.
- Hertha BSC wants to build a sustainable football stadium with around 50,000 seats, preferably in the Olympic Park. It will be 100 percent privately financed and will not affect any listed buildings in the Olympic Park.
- Hertha BSC is one of the last professional clubs in Germany without a real football stadium and, despite good average attendance figures, has by far the most empty seats. And that's regardless of where we are in the table.
- Hertha BSC fully recognizes the suitability of the Olympic Stadium for major national and international sporting events. However, it is now unsuitable for everyday league play, which accounts for 95 percent of match operations.
- Hertha BSC wants to offer fans and the team a much more intense match experience. Close to the pitch, without a running track in between. Just like in most other football stadiums. Steep, close, and loud.
- For Hertha BSC, having its own modern venue is also essential for economic reasons: having its own stadium means better stadium utilization and higher absolute spectator numbers. Better economic efficiency allows for stable, attractive ticket prices and offers a wide range of marketing opportunities. This is the only way we can remain competitive in sporting terms.
- Hertha BSC hopes and expects that the Berlin Senate will recognize the need for a new stadium. Hertha BSC has repeatedly declared its willingness to participate in developing a concept for the reuse of the Olympic Stadium.
- Hertha BSC is a registered association, a medium-sized company, and employs up to 1,000 people on match days — even more when games are sold out. It is the responsibility and obligation of those in charge to lead Hertha BSC into a successful future.
- Expectations for the football experience are considerably higher today than they were 20 years ago, partly due to increasing digital availability. Hertha BSC must respond to this development with a venue that creates an electrifying atmosphere. We want a blue and white home for all Hertha fans!
- The thousands of loyal fans in the Ostkurve deserve to have their voices heard. On the pitch. And in the city.
