Jarstein stays in Berlin!

Rune Jarstein will remain in the capital city next season; the 36-year-old has signed a new contract with Hertha BSC until 2023! "Rune is an important part of our team, not just on the pitch but off it too. He is hugely important for us with his experience and standing in the team, so we are happy to have him stay with us," said sporting director Arne Friedrich. Jarstein is Hertha's second-longest serving player after Peter Pekarík, having been in Berlin for seven years already. The man himself was pleased to sign fresh terms: "I have always said that I feel totally at home with Hertha and here in Berlin. That doesn't just go for me but for my family too. I want to help Hertha BSC to a successful future in the next few years. I'm looking forward to it and I will give everything day in, day out to achieve that."

The shot-stopper has featured in 179 competitive games for the Old Lady. He was named Norway's player of the year in 2018 and has kept a combined 52 clean sheets in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Europa League. The father of three had played eight league games this season before a case of coronavirus ended his campaign prematurely. The man lovingly dubbed 'the octopus' by fans started his long professional career in his home country with Odds BK. He then moved on to Rosenborg BK, winning the Norwegian championship in 2009, and Viking Stavanger before arriving at Hertha in 204. He also has 72 caps for his country.

To celebrate his contract extension, you can now get free Rune Jarstein print with the purchase of a goalkeeper jersey (offer valid until Sunday.)
