Season ends prematurely for Jhon Córdoba

Bad news for birthday boy Jhon Córdoba: the 28-year-old striker will miss what is left of the season due to an ankle ligament injury. Our number 15 complained of some pain in his foot after the game against Arminia Bielefeld (0-0) and tests have now diagnosed the issue. The Colombian has played 21 matches since arriving in Berlin last summer, scoring seven goals and providing two assists.

It’s another blow for the blue-and-whites after Maximilian Mittelstädt (concussion) and Matheus Cunha (ankle) were also ruled out on Monday. Mittelstädt will miss Wednesday’s game against Schalke (12/05/21, 18:00 CEST) while our Brazilian playmaker will be out until after the match against 1. FC Köln (15/05/21, 15:30 CEST). There is also the injury to goalkeeping coach Ilja Hofstädt, who tore his Achilles’ tendon during the warm-up ahead of the Bielefeld match. We wish a speedy recovery to all of our players and staff!
