Andreas Menger is Hertha’s new goalkeeping coach

Andreas Menger has joined Hertha from 1. FC Köln to become the club’s new goalkeeping coach. Menger, born in Berlin, will also coordinate goalkeeping training and coaching in the academy. “I’m pleased that we’ve filled this important position and secured the services of an experienced coach in Andi Menger, who has worked with a number of top goalkeepers during his long career in the Bundesliga,” commented Fredi Bobic. Our managing director for sport also thanked the Billy Goats for their cooperation: “I would like to thank 1. FC Köln for agreeing that Andi can start work here on 30th June.”

Hertha will be the 48-year-old’s fifth club in professional football, having previously worked for Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart, TSV 1860 München and 1. FC Köln. “I was born in Berlin and grew up here, which means I know exactly what Hertha BSC means to this city. I’m now looking forward to working with the rest of the coaching team and the players and I’m excited to help the club out with my experience,” said Menger, who played 45 times in Germany’s top flight for Köln, Duisburg and Frankfurt.
