Friendlies arranged vs. Villareal & Gaziantep FK

In addition to the scheduled friendly against Liverpool, Hertha fans now have two more international exhibition games to look forward to. During the training camp in Leogang, Austria (25 July – 1 August), the lads will take on Villareal on 28 July. Kick off at the Alois-Lantini stadium in Zell am See will be at 18:15 CEST. Villareal finished seventh in the Spanish top flight in 2020/21, but made for an unforgettable season by winning the UEFA Europa League. Head coach Unai Emery’s side is riddled with talent, boasting players such as Pau Torres, Gerard Moreno and Paco Alcácer.

Dress rehershal against Gaziantep

On 31 July, the trio of international friendly opponents will be completed by Gaziantep FK. Hertha will take on the Turkish top flight side at the Sportplatzstraße in Mittersill with kick-off at 18:15 CEST. Coached by Erol Bulut, last season’s ninth-placed side have a familiar face from the Bundesliga playing for them since 2020 – Alexandru Maxim (Stuttgart, Mainz). Goalkeeper Günay Güvenç grew up in Germany, playing for Ulm and Stuttgarter Kickers. Cenk Şahin played up front in the Bundesliga 2 for St. Pauli and Ingolstadt between 2016 and 2019.

With that, the boys in blue and white have three high-profile friendlies lined up for their stay in Austria. One day after the game against Gaziantep, the team will travel back to Berlin before their first competitive game of the season on 7 August: SV Meppen in the DFB-Pokal (15:30 CEST).
