Arrival at training camp in Leogang

Flight CAT5487 from Berlin landed on time at 13:50 CEST at the Salzburg airport. A total of 28 players and various backroom staff then travelled a further 70km to the Krallerhof in Leogang. Our Herthaner didn’t waste any time getting straight to work in Austria. Four hours after arriving, head coach Pál Dárdai’s team took part in their first training session at the nearby Steinbergstadion. “The conditions here are great. Our session after our arrival was good in order for us to arrive and get the blood flowing,” Dárdai said. The 90-minute session featured several drills involving the ball. While two teams faced each other in a game on one half of the pitch, another group was off training with fitness coach Henrik Kuchno. The freshly mown grass, which was carefully prepared in the days ahead of the team’s arrival, provided an excellent surface for today’s training.

It was a lively start, and the next few days won’t be any easier. We will also be doing a few tactical sessions.

Our Blue-Whites will be able to take advantage of their surroundings over the coming week. The team will train twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The only exceptions will be both matchdays, during which our team will face Liverpool and Ganziatep FK. On those days, the team will only train in the morning as things stand. As the short notice cancellation of the friendly against Villareal shows, it’s still possible for things to change at a moment’s notice during these pandemic times. “It was a lively start, and the next few days won’t be any easier. We will also be doing a few tactical sessions. The highlight is definitely both friendlies, which we’re looking forward to!” said Lukas Klünter.
