Hertha BSC and Carsten Schmidt mutually agree to end contract

Hertha BSC and Carsten Schmidt, Chairman of the board, have agreed to end their working relationship with immediate effect. The reasons for Schmidt’s departure are connected to his private family life. The 58-year-old’s duties will be taken up by managing directors Fredi Bobic and Ingo Schiller.

President Werder Gegenbauer spoke on the departure: “It is with a heavy heart that we have had to allow Mr. Schmidt his request of resignation due to personal reasons. We would like to thank Carsten Schmidt for his hard work at Hertha BSC and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”

Schmidt himself said: ”I would like to thank the presidency and board of Hertha BSC, for quickly and amicably concluding my contract at the club. I have had to take this step due to personal reasons, namely an illness in my close family. I will look back on my time at Hertha BSC with happiness. I would especially like to thank Werner Gegenbauer for his trust and cooperation throughout my time here. In the same way, I want to wish all of my colleagues in the board, the club, every employee, all the members and fans, and our Partners nothing but the best for the future. As a member of the club, I will always be closely connected to Hertha BSC.”
