“Platte was just incredible today!”

Relief, joy, ecstasy – any good feeling you can think of is currently being experienced by Herthaner everywhere, at long, long last! You could really feel the joy in the Blue-White camp after the final whistle blew on their 3-0 home win against TSG Hoffenheim – their first win since December! Despite the three points, there was a realisation that this must be a start of things to come if the team want to survive. “We left everything out there and a bit more besides – that was what gave us a deserved win today,” explained Marco Richter, who did all he could to stop his legs cramping up in the interview. Niklas Stark reflected his words: “It’s a massive relief to win for both us and the fans. We know that it has to just be a first step, but we can go into the next few games with a spring in our step now,” he explained. All the reaction to the game is here on herthabsc.com.

Marco Richter:  We left everything out there and a bit more besides – that was what gave us a deserved win today. It’s a fantastic feeling. Felix Magath gave us a call on FaceTime before the match and gave us the right words to go into the game with – he knew exactly what to say to us at half time too. Mark pushed us fantastically for the full 90 minutes. It was a good mix too, because the players really clicked this week. We didn’t want to take a step back in the second half either, and kept our aggression high – we need to keep doing that now. Yes, we’re going into the international break in a good mood, but after that the going gets tough.

Niklas Stark: We came into the game well, settling down quickly and moving the ball well. We also kept the gaps between the lines tight and communicated brilliantly, which is almost always the ground work for a good attack. We didn’t do much work on set pieces this week – Platte is really that good! It’s a massive relief to win for both us and the fans. We know that it has to just be a first step, but we can go into the next few games with a spring in our step now. It’s also crucial to have kept a clean sheet and got a win at home – long may it continue!

Linus Gechter: Lots has changed in the last few days. I think you could see that we’ve worked very hard and that it’s paid off. We got our reward for our performance in this game. We’re also so grateful to the fans, who have stuck by us and created a fantastic atmosphere today!
