Peter Pekarík remains a Herthaner!

Peter Pekarík has donned the blue and white of our club for a decade already, but that journey is set to continue: the 35-year-old and Hertha BSC have agreed to extend his contract until 2023. The 2022/23 campaign will be Pekarík’s 11th as a Herthaner, extending his record as our longest-serving active player. “Peka once again proved just how important he is to Hertha BSC last season. He’s the consummate professional, ever-reliable and always acting in the interests of the club and the team. His attitude and mentality do us a lot of good, so I’m delighted that he’ll stay with us for another season,” commented director of sport Fredi Bobic, satisfied that the defender will stay in the capital.

“The club plays a massive role in our lives”

The Slovakia international, who moved to Hertha in 2012 from VfL Wolfsburg and is currently away representing his home country, is also very happy with the extension of his contract. “After ten years here at Hertha BSC, I don’t think I need to say just how much myself and my family have become Herthaner, even Berliners. The club plays a massive role in our lives and I’m delighted that we’ll continue our journey together next season,” said the veteran. Once a Herthaner, always a Herthaner!
