Hertha's pre-season plans

The 2021/22 Bundesliga season ended with Hertha BSC securing their top-flight status via the relegation play-off. The players and staff, with the exception of those currently on international duty, are now enjoying a well-deserved summer break. The club have already made one key signing ahead of the new season, bringing on Sandro Schwarz as their new head coach. The club have also begun putting together their pre-season plans, with some key dates already confirmed.

Two training camps & three friendlies confirmed already

Following the completion of internal medical checks and performance tests on 20th and 21st June, pre-season will officially begin on 22nd June. The team’s first training session will be at 15:00 CEST at the Stadion auf dem Wurfplatz/Amateurstadion. Our Herthaner will then head to Kienbaum for a training camp from 27th June to 2nd July. There, they will face sixth-division side TuS Makkabi Berlin in a friendly behind closed doors. The team will close out training camp with a friendly against fourth-tier side SV Babelsberg 03 at the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion on 2nd July (16:00 CEST).

Training camp in England

After returning to Berlin for more training sessions at the Schenckendorffplatz, the team will play another friendly on 8th July (19:00 CEST) against fourth-tier Energie Cottbus at the Stadion der Freundschaft. A few days later, Hertha will embark on their second pre-season training camp. The team will train at St. George’s Park National Football Centre in Burton upon Trent, from 12th to 23rd July. The club are also working on planning another friendly on either 19th or 20th July, against newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest. Further details will be confirmed in due course.  A final pre-season friendly is planned for 23rd July.

The 2022/23 season will begin with an away game against Eintracht Braunschweig in the first round of the DFB-Pokal (weekend of 29th July-1st August). The exact date and time of the fixture will be confirmed in the coming weeks. The 60th Bundesliga season will begin the following weekend, on 5th August. The fixtures are due to be announced by the DFL on 17th June.
