"Development in comparision to the start of the season"

Despite an impressive performance, Hertha frustratingly came away from the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday night with a 1-0 defeat. The performance warranted an equaliser, not least because of the number of shots taken. This opinion was shared by Marc Kempf: “I am obviously disappointed, but as a team we played well. We have taken a step forward in comparison to previous weeks.” He also suggested there was more to come from this Hertha side, “Now we have to put in more hard work and look to get better slowly but surely. You can see our development in comparison to the start of the season.” herthabsc.com has summarised the immediate reaction.

Marc Kempf: I am obviously disappointed. But, considering the performance we put in, I can stand here and not feel like we lost completely, because as a team we played well. We have taken a step forward in comparison to previous weeks. Credit is also due to the coach because he has a clear vision and openly states what he demands from us. We all know where we stand with him. Now, we have to put in more hard work and look to get better slowly but surely. You can see our development in comparison to the start of the season.

Overall, I saw a lot of positives to take from the game, which gives you courage looking forward and means you are really up for the next game.

Dodi Lukébakio: We worked with a lot of commitment, did well playing the ball forward and had numerous clear-cut chances. Overall, I saw a lot of positives to take from the game, which gives you courage looking forward and means you are really up for the next game. We know that because of the changes to the squad this is a new team that has to find itself piece by piece, and that is not easy. But we are doing a lot of things right. We have to keep going and keep improving – especially in our approach play to the goal. If we do this, then we will win points in our upcoming games.

Oliver Christensen: We performed well as a team and it would definitely have been a deserved point. In the game we showed a lot of tempo and heart, but similarly to the start of the season we are just missing that cutting edge in front of goal. It is annoying, but we created a lot of chances and with our attacking quality, we will score the goals in future games and get three points. There is luck involved as well. Against Dortmund we have to keep looking forward and play our game.
