"A different structure and a different mentality"

There were a few heart-in-mouth moments in an exciting end to the game, as Hertha BSC and Eintracht Frankfurt finished in the end with a point apiece. With the early lead and a strong first half overall, there is the question after 90 minutes of whether it was a point won or two dropped in Hertha’s first home game of the season. “We started really well and made chances through a lot of pressure and energy. I think it would’ve been a deserved three points, but for that we would’ve had to take our chances. In football though, it is not about earned or unearned, at the end of the day the results say everything.” Oliver Christensen suggested after the game. Marc Kempf thought above all there was a noticeable improvement in comparison to last Saturday: “After the defeat there was still frustration in the week. Everyone was up for it and working really hard, there were some strong challenges during the week, but obviously fair ones and with a handshake at the end. When the result is that we compete so well and so hard in duels, then it's worth it. We had a completely different structure and a different mentality on the pitch,” explained our number 20. herthabsc.com has the immediate reaction after the draw against Frankfurt.

Oliver Christensen: We started really well and made chances through a lot of pressure and energy. I think it would’ve been a deserved three points, but for that we would’ve had to take our chances. In football though, it is not about earned or unearned, at the end of the day the results say everything. It is an important point for us. I touched him slightly for the potential penalty, but for me it was not enough to go down. All in all, we can take a lot of good things with us from the game, even if not everything was perfect. It was nice to play at home again. A lot of people attended the game and brought a great atmosphere, as well as the amazing tifo. We would’ve like to have repaid them with three points.

Marc Kempf: After the defeat against Union there was still frustration in the week. Everyone was up for it and working really hard, there were some strong challenges during the week, but obviously fair ones and with a handshake at the end. It’s only right to work that way. When the result is that we compete so well and so hard in duels, then it’s worth it. The different parts of the team worked much better together, everyone worked hard, both in defence and attack. We had a completely different structure and a different mentality on the pitch. We know that not everyone worked and we have more to work on. Our goal has to be to keep progressing forward in the coming weeks.

"We need to go into the next games with exactly the same intensity."

-Maximilian Mittelstädt

Jean-Paul Boëtius: In my first few days here we have been training really intensively to prepare for this game. In the games coming up we have to be even braver, both in possession, but also without the ball. If we trust even more in our own abilities our team has a lot of potential!

Maximilian Mittelstädt: I heard that I would be in the starting eleven after the last training session. We know how quickly things can change in football. In the first two games of the competitive season I wasn’t in the squad, so I tried even harder to play well. All in all, I think both me and the team played well. I think that we could have got more out of the game, even if we had a bit of luck at the end with the penalty situation. It is a shame that we did not hold onto the lead for longer. We need to go into the next games with exactly the same intensity.
