Hertha secure comfortable win in friendly
Pál Dárdai's side ran out 6-1 winners in their friendly against Tennis Borussia Berlin on Thursday evening.
A rapid start to the game
Hertha flew out the blocks early on, racing into a 2-0 lead after just four minutes. Christensen opened the scoring from close range after Karbownik had won the ball back (2’), before Jindaoui doubled the visitors’ lead with a free-kick just moments later (4’). Our boys didn’t relent despite their two-goal cushion, with Zeefuik making it 3-0 after 19 minutes, before further goals from Bence Dárdai (30’) and Zeefuik (31’) put the visitors five goals up heading into the break.

A quick response from the hosts
Whilst Pál Dárdai made seven changes during the interval, it was the hosts who came out with increased intensity at the start of the second half. Tennis Borussia got a goal back from the penalty spot through Tim Oschmann after substitute Tim Hoffman had been adjudged to have tripped Konstantinos Grigoriadis in the box (47’). Whilst the second half was not as action-packed as the first, Leander Popp did manage to restore Hertha’s five-goal lead with a smart finish (75’), with the score remaining 6-1 until the full-time whistle.
Pál Dárdai’s side are back in league action after the international break as they travel to 1. FC Nürnberg (22.10.23, 13:30 CEST).
