“We found our way through smartly”

We got the job done – that’s the only thing that matters in the DFB-Pokal! Hertha were patient and determined, and celebrated a 3-1 win away from home at SC Preußen Münster, earning a place in the last 16 draw in the process. Our Blue-Whites looked happy but also relieved as they spoke about the win at the Preußenstadion. “At half time, we spoke about needing to keep calm – that turned out to be the descisive thing for us to get through in the end. Compliments to Preußen Münster; they played a great game, but we found our way through smartly at the end of the day,” commented Davie Selke on the game against the Regionalliga side. herthabsc.com has got all the reactions to the game here.

Alexander Schwolow: We started off really well, but then allowed our opposition to run at us aggressively. We didn’t do enough for 20 minutes or so and were lucky not to go behind. We also let Preußen run too freely after going 3-1 up, so they got two or three more shots than they should have. We need to do better in regard to these things. Nevertheless, there was a lot which went well and we’re into the next round which is the only thing that matters. Now we need to dust ourselves down and get back to it on Friday.

Dennis Jastrzembski: We fought for the win until the very last minute. Of course, it wasn’t our best game and we could’ve done better, but we’re happy to be moving on to the next round and cross that game off the list. We will keep working on the things we need to improve, but most importantly we’re concentrating on the next challenge. All of us will have to step it up a notch in Hoffenheim, especially on the ball. We need to improve in that respect and show a better side of ourselves.

Davie Selke: We actually started the game very well, and the first goal was brilliantly created. Preüßen came back into the game though and held their own against us. That’s often the case in the Pokal – the so-called ‘underdogs’ can play really well in these games, with their fans bringing them up a level.
