"All in all, we did well!"

A big sigh of relief and let the celebrations begin: Hertha have finally got their just rewards and won a game in which they had the upper hand! The story of our most recent home games has been turned on its head, as it was the Blue-Whites’ turn to score in injury time and keep a clean sheet for a 2-0 win against Arminia Bielefeld. “I’m over the moon. We didn’t make our 1-0 lead last against Leverkusen and Augsburg count, and that made it all the more difficult here against Bielefeld, but we took the game to them and are on the way up,” said Stevan Jovetić, putting his side on the road to victory with the first goal, his fifth in nine games, in the 53rd minute. Suat Serdar took the time to look ahead to the next challenge: “Despite this win it’s no time to relax – we still need to get points in Mainz, and anything is possible against Dortmund if we play and fight like we did today,” said our number 8. All the reaction to the game is here on herthabsc.com.

Stevan Jovetić: I’m over the moon to win. We didn’t make our 1-0 lead last against Leverkusen and Augsburg count, and that made it all the more difficult here against Bielefeld, but we took the game to them and are on the way up. We did very well with the first goal, Ishak had a great touch and fantastic vision to find me – it was a beautiful goal, if I do say so myself (laughs)! Ishak and I have a great chemistry on the pitch, but Davie Selke and Kris Piątek are also good players. The most important thing is that we win and bring Hertha BSC back to where they belong. We’re all here to give our best for the club.

We worked really well as a team from the first minute, and could have taken the lead even sooner – that would have made the game a bit calmer. All in all, we did well both in football terms and in terms of hard work.

Suat Serdar: We worked really well as a team from the first minute, and could have taken the lead even sooner – that would have made the game a bit calmer. Since his very first training session Tayfun Korkut has emphasized to us that we should play out from the back, no matter how tight it is or how much pressure our opponents put on us. We have done that well and I think it makes games more exciting for the fans when we create chances like that. Defensively we learned our lessons from Stuttgart. All in all, we did well both in football terms and in terms of hard work. We earned our win. We made it clear to ourselves that we should play with the ball at our feet and we did that – compliments to the whole team. Despite this win, though, it’s no time to relax. We still need to get points in Mainz, and anything is possible against Dortmund if we play and fight like we did today.

Davie Selke: The second goal was just pure joy and relief, both for me and the team. The goal was extremely important for me – the last few weeks haven’t been kind to me. I’m even happier now after seeing how all the lads celebrated. It’s just so good to see. Thank you to all the fans who have kept supporting me; I hope I was able to give something back to you. We want to earn as many points in our final two games before Christmas as possible.
