“We expected to get more”

It could have been the perfect day for Marc Oliver Kempf and the team. With a win more deserved than the draw, our new signing and the rest of his colleagues will have to settle for a point which feels more like two points lost, as despite a dominant first half that saw us go in at the break deserved leaders, the game ended 1-1. Our new number 20 came to a similar conclusion: “We expected to get more, especially after the first half where we were clearly the better team,” said the central defender. With that said, giving up is never an option. “Now, we need to work as a team to get the three points next weekend,” said Kempf. herthabsc.com has all the reaction from the game here.

Marc Oliver Kempf: We expected to get more, especially after the first half where we were clearly the better team. We were asleep at the restart; we shouldn’t be conceding goals like that. It was extremely frustrating and annoying for me. We let them have nothing for large parts of the game, so it’s so disappointing to come away with just a single point. I think I’ve got used to being here pretty well.  Now, we need to work as a team to get the three points next weekend.

Bjørkan:  It was tough. As a team we had parts that went very well and other parts that didn’t go so well. We were very compact in the first half, but after half time Bochum had too much space. We have to be more consistency, keep sticking together and working hard. If we do that, we’ll get out of this phase!

Niklas Stark: The goal we conceded was so frustrating: one long ball, the first shot of the half and then a rebound. After that we weren’t as aggressive – we even lacked intensity in our tackling, it wasn’t good. We lost our heads a bit. Nevertheless, we still had our chances in the second half to regain the lead, but the main thing to build on is our opening 45.
