“Keep working hard and fighting – every point counts”

Going behind early on to a soft penalty did not mean Hertha’s heads dropped, the ‘Old Lady’ fighting their way back through tactical changes and pure passion. Despite several big chances for our side, the final whistle blew in Freiburg with the home team winning 3-0. Our Herthaner gave their reaction following the defeat at the Europa-Park Stadion. “We fought well from the first whistle, but we did get affected by the early goal. We rallied ourselves back though and gave ourselves some words of encouragement at half time. Sadly, we didn’t manage to find a way back, and this loss hurts,” said debutant Marcel Lotka, who was powerless to prevent all three goals going in. herthabsc.com has all the reaction from the game here.

Marcel Lotka: I’m happy to make my debut even if I imagined it going differently.  We fought well from the first whistle, but we did get affected by the early goal. We rallied ourselves back though and gave ourselves some words of encouragement at half time. Sadly, we didn’t manage to find a way back, and this loss hurts. We need to put it behind us, keep working hard and fighting – every point counts!

Fredi Bobic: The scoreline is pretty brutal when you look at the entire game. We played on the front foot, and the chances were there, but we didn’t find the net in those decisive moments. The penalty was very unlucky – not every referee gives them. There was a very light touch, but it wasn’t enough to bring him down. At the end of the day, it is what it is – we need to keep working and focussing on the positives.
