“We have everything in our own hands”

Football, eh? What a crazy game! With two minutes of normal time to go, it looked for the world as if Hertha would be celebrating survival with a win in Bielefeld, but then VfB Stuttgart equalised at home to VfL Wolfsburg, and our team conceded an added-time equaliser away at Arminia Bielefeld to only come back to Berlin with a point. Hertha now have a four point gap to VfB but only a win next Saturday against Mainz will see them celebrate survival with the home fans, as Stuttgart play champions FC Bayern on Sunday evening. That said, survival is still in our team’s hands. “We’ve got a home game next, where we can finish the job. Felix Magath has worked hard with us and it’s paying off. We’ve got as big a chance as we can have, having earned 7 points from our last 3 games,” said Prince Boateng, showing determination despite a rollercoaster of emotions. All the reactions post-full time are here on herthabsc.com.

Prince Boateng: I have to compliment the team – we did very, very well. Bielefeld didn’t know how to break us down because we were set up so well. We had two big chances in the first half, and finally took on in the second, but the late goal means nothing has changed. At the end of the day, we have to take away the positives from here: we fought hard; we were in the game from start to finish – that’s the most important thing! We knew what was going on in Stuttgart, but we took it out of our heads. We’ve got a home game next, where we can finish the job. Felix Magath has worked hard with us and it’s paying off. We’ve got as big a chance as we can have, having earned 7 points from our last 3 games – we have everything in our own hands, something not many people thought would happen. Felix has given us a real spirit.
